Red Concubine

A short film, written & directed by Florian Dedio

“One thing my daddy always told me. Nobody ever leaves. You’re here, it’s for good. And there’s no happy endings in Port Hope. I knew he was right the day I buried him. Daddy was the last good cop in this Godforsaken city. It got himself shot in the back a long time ago. No place for an honest cop. Believe me. I tried.”

Jolene’s voiceover, from the opening scene of “Red Concubine”.

“Red Concubine” is an experiment in modern noir storytelling. We set the story in East Germany’s industrial landscapes and built scenes around its sodium-lit streets.
